Khalid Empowers Veterans Through Music

Happy Veterans Day to the amazing service men and women throughout the U.S.! Our country’s brave veterans have worked to preserve the American dream for us, but too often they feel lost when they return home. That’s why iHeartRadio teamed up with the Center for American Military Music Opportunities (CAMMO), State Farm and Khalid to give back to veterans. CAMMO helps veterans readjust to civilian life – and what better way to do that than through music?

For Khalid, the cause hits close to home. His mom served in the military and he spent most of his childhood relocating, moving from Germany to New York when he was in the eighth grade, and then again to Texas during his senior year of high school. But Khalid didn’t let these tumultuous times get him down. Instead, he turned to music and developed his own style, driven largely by his unique cultural and emotional experiences.

Now the “Location” singer is working with veterans to incite the same passion for music that helped him deal with his struggles. Khalid sees music as universal and therapeutic, and hopes that even in the darkest times, it’ll bring light to those in need.

To witness the power of music, head on over to CAMMO’s website and check out Khalid’s performances and interviews with State Farm here. Of course, we have all your Khalid favorites on iHeartRadio too. Happy listening, and please, thank a veteran today!
