#NewMusicTuesday: Jack Antonoff Opens Up About Bleachers’ New Album, Gone Now

This Tuesday, we’re reflecting on the amazing time we had at our Bleachers’ iHeartRadio Album Release Party for Gone Now, the band’s sophomore album. Amid the killer performance that Jack Antonoff and his band graced us with, we caught a few precious moments with the front man to get the backstory on his new album, his wild piñata stunt and how he feels about working alongside his sweetheart Lena Dunham.

During an onstage interview between songs, Antonoff felt that writing the new album at home in his own personal space would ultimately lead to more genuine material than a fancy recording studio. He also shared the thinking behind a hilarious piñata stunt that his team executed: “I like to take nice ideas and then try to make them absurd,” Antonoff says. “Everything goes so wide, so quickly nowadays, and I like that, but I also want to have a couple experiences that are just for the people who are there.” Well said, Jack!

Finally, our hearts were warmed by what Jack had to say about working with his girlfriend Lena Dunham (Dunham directed the music video for “Don’t Take The Money”). Of working with Dunham on the set, he says, “It’s nice to work with people you love and then also, have fun doing it.” We couldn’t agree more!

Head over to iHeartRadio and check out Bleachers’ fun — and deeply personal — new tunes for yourself! Listen to Gone Now on demand.
