iHeartRadio Pays Tribute on 9/11

Today marks 18 years since 3,000 people lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Since then, various organizations have done remarkable work to honor the memory of the lives taken — by educating a new generation on what happened through serving our communities, being kind to one another and uniting as one.

iHeartRadio has partnered once again for the eighth consecutive year with 9/11 Day of Service, an organization dedicated to transforming 9/11 from a day of tragedy into a day of service, unity and peace. Throughout the month of September, iHeartRadio ran PSAs across all its 850 broadcast stations encouraging our listeners to get involved in the community, volunteer at a locally organized 9/11 Day event or to perform a simple random act of kindness.

Top on-air personalities from local markets including Chicago, Dallas, New York, San Francisco, Phoenix, Atlanta, Los Angeles and St. Louis showed up today along with local listeners at local volunteer events to help pack meals for those in need in the communities in which they live and work.

In addition, iHeartRadio on-air personality Shelli Sonstein hosted 9/11 Day: Honoring Heroes, a 30-minute long form show in which Shelli interviews two men affected by the 9/11 tragedies: Port Authority Police Superintendent Ed Cetnar, the highest-ranking 9/11 First Responder fighting a cancer related to 9/11; and Jay Winuk, co-founder of 9/11 Day of Service. The show talks about the importance of honoring our heroes and serving our communities by doing good deeds.
