Artist of the Week: Chance the Rapper

It’s hard to believe that breakthrough artist Chance the Rapper hasn’t even released an actual album yet! That’s right, the visionary performer has only shared straight-to-stream “mixtapes” with fans, which have been free to download. His multitrack releases such as Acid Rap and Coloring Book have been widely successful, with the latter earning the rapper three Grammy Awards, including one for best rap album.

Chance the Rapper’s unique approach to getting his music out to fans also earned him an Innovator Award at our iHeartRadio Music Awards last weekend, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for this creative artist! He has hinted at new music projects with Childish Gambino and Kanye West and so far, we love the idea of these potential collaborations! Chance is also busy outside the recording studio, advocating for arts programs at Chicago Public Schools. Over the summer, he set up a fund to support the programs, and just recently wrote a $1 million check for his own contribution. The rapper also continues to work with local officials on the project, and aims to raise awareness about the need for arts education.

Watch Chance the Rapper accept his Innovator Award in the video below and be on the lookout for new music! While you wait, check out his hits on iHeartRadio!
