#NewMusicTuesday: Anitta, Downtown

Brazilian singer Anitta is already a big star back home, and after signing with Shots Studios this summer, she’s bringing her talent to the U.S. too! Anitta started singing in church when she was a little girl, but now that she’s all grown up, she wants to bring the sound of her country to the rest of the world. Today, Anitta performs in English, Spanish and Portuguese, bringing her Brazilian pride with her everywhere she goes.

2017 has been a busy year for Anitta. As part of her “Checkmate” campaign, she has been releasing a new song every month in one of her three languages, and dropped her first English-language song, “Will I See You,” in collaboration with producer Poo Bear. In October, Anitta also dipped her toes into EDM, debuting “Is That for Me” with fellow Shots artist Alesso. And most recently, Anitta teamed up with Colombian performer J Balvin on “Downtown,” a sexy Spanish-language single that’s already made its way onto Brazil’s Billboard Hot 100. But she is just getting started!

With the recent success of hits like “Despacito” and “Mi Gente,” there’s a hunger for the unique character of Latin music, and Anitta is ready to bring it! So what do we love most about the singer? That despite her rise to fame, she is still down to earth, and deals with the same things that we do. Watch her give love advice to fans in the video below, and listen to her newest songs on iHeartRadio!
