Artist of the Week: Halsey
On the new record, the fourth LP from the pop star, Halsey teams up with Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on production in addition to contributions from a slew of other notable musicians. Fans can hear the powerful new album in all its glory on iHeartRadio’s Contemporary Hit Radio and Hot Adult Contemporary stations right now!
Prior to the drop of the new release, Halsey revealed that If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power is a concept album about the duality of pregnancy and childbirth. The record comes only a month and a half after the singer gave birth to their first child with partner Alev Aydin, and is accompanied by a stunning hour-long visual film written by Halsey and directed by Colin Tilley.
“It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The idea of Madonna and the Whore," Halsey told fans on Instagram. "The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully.”
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power is Halsey’s first new music since releasing their third studio album Manic last year. Despite massive success prior to that record, including two Grammy nominations, Manic became their best-selling album and its lead single, “Without Me,” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Over the years, Halsey has garnered attention as an activist icon for their outspokenness and involvement on issues such as suicide prevention awareness, sexual assault victim advocacy and racial justice protests.
Is If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power destined to become Halsey’s most successful effort to date? Find out for yourself, and be among the first to hear the powerful new album, streaming now on iHeartRadio’s Contemporary Hit Radio and Hot Adult Contemporary stations!
