Artist of the Week: Jonas Brothers
Nope, you’re not dreaming this: the Jonas Brothers are back today with a brand new album, Happiness Begins. It’s been six years since our favorite boy band put out new music and we’re ecstatic to see what the JoBros have in store for us.
When the Jonas Brothers broke up in 2013, there was little hope for a reunion. Brothers Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas had grown up in the limelight and were exhausted by fame. The Jonas Brothers breakup, initiated by Nick, did more than end the band—it caused a painful fracture in the brothers; relationship.
Nick went off to embark on a successful solo career, Joe became the lead singer for a funky new pop group called DNCE and Kevin started a family and a real estate development company. The brothers admit that, up until a year and a half ago, they never thought a Jonas Brothers reunion would happen.
After some time, a couple of weddings (Joe married actress Sophie Turner this spring and Nick married actress Priyanka Chopra in the fall) and a lot of family therapy, the Jonas Brothers have healed and are back with a brand new album that’s sure to be filling dancefloors this summer.
“Sucker” was the album’s first single and debuted at the top of the charts twice. “Cool,” the album’s lyrically witty and fun second single, was released in April 2019. The album’s other 12 songs have been teased: Nick has said that his favorite song on the album is “I Believe,” while “Hesitate” has been described as Joe’s love letter to his new wife.
