In the days leading up to National Radio Day, we’ve connected with some of our most iconic on-air personalities from across the country – including Elvis Duran, Charlamagne Tha God, Angie Martinez, Enrique Santos and many more – to talk a bit about radio, their best and worst on-air moments, how they view radio in 2025 and more.

Who’s the most unexpected or unforgettable guest you’ve had?
Elvis Duran, Z100: “One day, Arnold Schwarzenegger was down the hall doing an interview at another station and my producer TJ ran in and said, ‘Let’s go get him,’ and I said, ‘No, no, no, no, I’m not prepared, I don’t know what to say to him. He’s Arnold Schwarzenegger – don’t bring him in.’ Next thing I know, the door opens and in walks Arnold. I’m like, ‘Holy crap! What are we gonna do?’ He sat down and his energy alone ran the interview…it was one of the most unexpected but fantastic interviews we’ve ever done.” See his full answer here!
Charlamagne Tha God, Power 105.1: The list is too long. The reason I say that is because I’ve had conversations with people I literally never thought I’d be having conversations with…You’d be hard pressed to find a platform – Black or white – that has had the diversity [of guests] that ‘Breakfast Club’ does. We go from Mel Robbins to Minister Farrakhan. Kodak Black to Kamala Harris. You know what I’m saying? Dick Gregory to Henry Danger. You know we interviewed Henry Danger? Exactly. Y’all don’t even remember that. That’s my point.” See his full answer here!
Do you remember the first time you cracked the mic?
Angie Martinez, Power 105.1: I don’t remember the exact first time because I kinda used to sneak on here and there because I used to run the boards…but I do remember not being good when I first cracked the mic. I do remember being really nervous and then listening back to my air checks and being like, ‘Oh man, who is this girl?’ ‘Cause anytime you do something new, there’s a level of discomfort. And then I remember the times I started to really feel like myself on the air, and that’s when it started to click for me.” See her full answer here!
How would you describe radio in 2025?
Enrique Santos, Tu 94.9: “I would describe radio in 2025, from my point of view, as bilingual, multi-platform and more human than ever. Radio is constantly evolving. That forces us to evolve. More people listen to radio today than when I started. It’s intimate…Radio connects more today than ever – and it’s more necessary today than yesterday.” See his full answer here!
