iHeartRadio and the Largest Podcast Creators Team Up for #trypod
By: Chris Peterson, Senior Vice President of Podcasting, iHeartRadio
For the month of March, iHeartRadio and the largest podcast creators are teaming up to help share #trypod, a movement to spread the word about podcasting. Why are we participating in #trypod? Because, I’m an avid podcast listener, but some of my friends and family have never listened — or even know how to listen — to a podcast, and I want to share my love with them and you!
This month, the hosts of hundreds of shows will also participate in #trypod and ask their listeners to tell everyone they know about their favorite podcasts. There are thousands of shows available, so there’s something for everyone: politics, audio dramas, sports, crime, history, business, comedy and more. And, we want you to do the same and show those who are new to podcasts how to listen to them — preferably on iHeartRadio ☺️ — and when, like at work, during your commute or just sitting at home on the couch.
In the spirit of #trypod, let me get the ball rolling. Here are a few of my favorites that I think you will enjoy:
Missing Richard Simons: This brand new show has me hooked. In 2014, Richard Simmons vanished from the public eye and this podcast investigates what exactly happened to the man that was so available and public. I can’t believe how hooked I am on this. Listen below!
Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast: Bill Burr is one of the funniest comedians out there and his Monday Morning Podcast is the perfect way to start your week - if you like to hear someone hilariously ramble and complain from time to time. Listen below!
Bobbycast: Bobby Bones hosts the biggest Country morning show, and if that wasn’t enough, he also invites some of the biggest Country stars into his living room to have loose, candid and sometimes silly chats. Listen below!
WTF with Marc Maron: Keeping with comedy, Marc Maron’s podcast is a staple in the industry. He records the show from his garage, and some of the biggest celebrities swing by for captivating interviews - even President Obama made a visit to the “Cat Ranch." Listen below!
99% Invisible: I often find myself reading about the most random topics on Wikipedia and always try to learn new things. 99% Invisible is the audio version of learning about design, architecture, sound and everything in between that you didn’t know you were interested in. Listen below!
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and share your latest binge-inducing true crime podcast that keeps you glued to your headphones during all hours of the day. And, don’t forget to tweet us using hashtag #trypod to let us know your favorites too!
