iHeartRadio Brings Home Eight Wins and 14 Honors at the 2022 Webby Awards!
The iHeartRadio family is thrilled to celebrate our big wins at the 2022 Webby Awards! Winners were announced on April 26 and the teams behind some of iHeart’s best ventures took home eight awards while 14 were named honorees.
iHeart was included in both the Webby Award winners list, voted on by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, and the Webby People’s Voice Award winners list, voted by fans. We’re ecstatic that our shows were not only recognized by the overseeing committee, but also by passionate fans who made their voices heard!
In the Best Limited Series category, iHeartRadio Original “Lolita” was named the People’s Voice Winner while “The MLK Tapes,” co-produced with Tenderfoot TV, was named the Webby Award winner.
Our podcasts also dominated the General Series categories. “The Laverne Cox Show” won the Webby People’s Voice Award in the Diversity & Inclusion category, “Questlove Supreme” won the Webby Award in the Lifestyle category and the Webby People’s Voice Award in the Music category and iHeartRadio and Diversion Media co-production “I Am Kobe,” a dive into the late Kobe Bryant’s early years, won both the Webby Award and the Webby People’s Voice Award the Sports category.
Another double winner is “Was I In a Cult?” which won both the Webby Award and the Webby People’s Voice Award in the Individual Episode category for Interview/Talk Show. “The Roxane Gay Agenda,” produced in partnership with Luminary, won the Webby People’s Voice Award in the Individual Episode category for Diversity & Inclusion.
We’re also thrilled that 13 of our shows made the final lists of honorees, deemed one of the best on the internet among thousands of entries. These include: “All the Smoke” for Best Co-Host; “#Storytime” and “A Slight Change of Plans” for Best Host; “Make It Up As We Go” for Best Series; “Strawberry Spring” and “Unread” for Best Writing; “Strawberry Spring” for Original Music Score/Sound Design; “Dear Chelsea” for Advice & How-To; “Math & Magic: Stories from the Frontiers of Marketing,” hosted by our CEO and Chairman Bob Pittman, for Creativity & Marketing; “Operation Midnight Climax” for best general series in Documentary; “NFL Explained” for best general series in Sports; “The Office Deep Dive” for best general series in Television & Film; and “Halloween in Hell” for best general series in Scripted Fiction. And when it comes to events, the 2021 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, our iconic annual concert series, also made the list of honorees.
The Webby Awards is an international awards program that celebrates the best of the internet across various forms of media, including websites, video, advertising, media & PR, social, apps and podcasts. The ceremony is overseen by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences. This group selects five nominees for each category and then the winner.
The official 2022 Webby Awards ceremony will take place May 16 in New York City, and we hope our teams have a blast celebrating their big wins!
