Artist of the Week: HBCU Homecoming Celebration on iHeartRadio
Another week, another one-of-a-kind iHeartRadio special event! This week, we brought together some of the biggest names in music for the HBCU Homecoming Celebration on iHeartRadio!
HBCU Homecoming is a time-honored tradition celebrating the rich histories, achievements and cultural impact of historically Black colleges and universities. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic this year, thousands of alumni and students haven’t been unable to gather in-person to commemorate this momentous occasion.
So, iHeartRadio stepped in to bring some of the joy, magic, and pride to HBCU members across the country for an entire month with a series of special events—culminating in yesterday’s HBCU Homecoming Celebration on iHeartRadio: a day of celebration and events across multiple platforms showcasing student pride and excellence!
The day kicked off with an incredible performance from HBCU marching band across the country, voiced by the one-and-only Megan Thee Stallion. iHeartRadio Presents The Pepsi HBCU Marching Band Experience saw four talented bands from Hampton University, North Carolina A&T, Prairie View A&M and Florida A&M come together to perform in unity.
Next up was the iHeartRadio Beautiful Possibilities, presented by Ulta Beauty panel! Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee, and special guests La La Anthony and Yve-Car Momperousse, explored female entrepreneurship and brand building in an inspiring conversation for the next generation of Black women leaders—capped off by an intimate performance from “Focus” singer, H.E.R.
Closing out the day of celebration was the main event, the iHeartRadio HBCU Homecoming Party on the Yard, presented by McDonald’s, which featured a performance by Khalid and candid interviews with celebrity guests like Lil Baby, Big Sean and Saweetie.
