Artist of the Week: Jason Aldean

Country music powerhouse Jason Aldean is capping off the decade this November with his aptly titled ninth studio album, 9. The album, which is set to come out on November 22, was officially announced in September to great excitement from the country music community!

Aldean, a long-time country music icon and regular ACM Artist of the Year, explained his inspiration behind the new album, saying in a press release, “Early on I always thought if we ever got to make nine albums, I’m going to call it 9. It was my baseball number growing up, and it’s just kind of always been my lucky number. I remember cutting the first album and thinking that’s forever away, and now here we are. I don’t know, it’s really special we made it this far – so, it’s more for me than anybody else – but, it means a lot.”

Fans who can’t wait two weeks for the new album should check out the new single, “We Back.” The song carries a statement of purpose and in its lyrics, Aldean lets his fans know that he and his band are going to continue making music for the fans — no matter what.

“When I came into country music and made my mark, it was with a banger,” said Aldean. “But we haven’t put out a lot of that stuff over the last couple years. So we got this song and to me it just says what it says: ‘Thought we were gone, but you’re wrong – now it’s on.’”

A few other songs off 9 are currently available, too: Fans can stream “Blame It On You,” “I Don’t Drink Anymore” and “Got What I Got” on iHeartRadio before it’s released two weeks from now!

And, to celebrate Veteran’s Day this Monday, November 11, Aldean will be performing at the iHeartCountry One Night For Our Military fundraiser on Monday night along with fellow country artists Kelsea Ballerini and Scotty McCreery! The event is being held at the Country Hall of Fame and will be filled with veterans from across the nation. And even if you’re not attending the event, you don’t have to miss out: The artist performances will be broadcast on iHeartMedia country stations on Monday at 7pm and streamed on LiveXLive.com. Tune in and check it out!
