#NewMusicTuesday: Julia Michaels – “Issues”

You might remember that our very own Tanya Rad predicted that 2017 would be the year for Julia Michaels in her New Artists to Watch in 2017 post. With co-writing credits to songs like “Hands To Myself” by Selena Gomez, “Sorry” by Justin Bieber, and “Chainsaw” by Nick Jonas>, it’s no surprise that Julia Michaels’ recent single, “Issues,” is a chart-topping hit.

In addition to releasing “Issues” at the end of January, Michaels just dropped the anticipated music video — check it out below!

Julia Michaels grew up in Santa Clarita, California, and began singing at the age of 12. Rising quickly through the song-writing ranks, Michaels is known behind the scenes for her powerful and catchy lyrics; she even appeared on Kygo’s most recent album, Cloud Nine, and performed the song “Carry Me” alongside at the 2016 Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony. “Issues,” though, is her first big step out into the spotlight as a solo artist.

We’re pumped to see Julia Michaels explode as a solo artist, and we can’t wait for the rest of her album to come out. If her recent string of success is any indication, the album is destined to be filled with hit after hit.
