Celebrate 2022 with iHeartRadio’s Top Artists and Songs of the Year
The end of the year is almost here and you know what that means – iHeartRadio is releasing our list of the most played artists and songs of the year! Whatever your plans are for 2023, join us one last time in celebrating the beloved artists and iconic music that defined 2022 with iHeartRadio’s list of top artists and songs of 2022.
By tallying the total audience spins (TAS) and streams across iHeartRadio stations nationwide and on the iHeartRadio app, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 songs, as well as the top 10 artists by category, which include: overall, contemporary hit radio or CHR, country, hip-hop, alternative and rock. Artists at the top of the list include superstars like Adele, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas X and so many more.
This year, Doja Cat took the crown with over 3.6 billion spins, over one billion more than 2021’s most played artist, Ariana Grande. The pop superstar was the only artist with two songs in this year’s Top 10 most played, “Need to Know” and “Woman.” No song, however, got more listens this year than “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber.
Following these incredible artists to round-out iHeartRadio’s top five played artists this year were Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd. As for songs? Glass Animals’ alternative bop “Heat Waves”Harry Styles’ pop anthem “As it Was”, Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” and“That’s What I Want” by Lil Nas X rounded out the top five.
