#NewMusicTuesday: Lea Michele, "Places"

Former Broadway baby and beloved Glee star Lea Michele just released Places, her second studio album following the release of her debut album, Louder in 2014. While she took a pop/rock direction with Louder, her sophomore album returns back to her Broadway roots, and you can hear a more theatrical sound in the album’s lead single "Love Is Alive.”

“Deep down, this album really does reflect much more of who I am as an artist,” she told us in an interview about returning to a familiar sound and style. Michele is adamant about the album’s powerful message, stating “there’s a definite underlying tone of strength, with songs like “Believer” and “Anything’s Possible” and “Proud” and “Tornado.” They’re really strong female, powerful, independent songs.”

Many of the album’s tunes are also about love — a historically important theme throughout Michele’s musical career. And in this latest release, fans can expect to find a vocal-centric collection of inspiring songs. Places has received rave reviews, so take a listen and watch her interview with us below.
